Sr. Software Engineer (Business Intelligence)

Job Summary The Sr. Software Engineer - BI will be responsible for data Integration, and support the development of reporting and dashboards, utilizing various operational data sources. This position reports to the Director, Data Analytics and will collaborate with business stakeholders, business leaders, and subject matter experts in understanding their reporting needs and integrate data from various sources to support development of Business Intelligence (BI) solutions such as reports, dashboards, and self-service apps. This role will also collaborate with other IT staff, and an extended team of offshore resources to meet the delivery objectives. Duties and Responsibilities Gather and prepare data from various actuarial, operational, product development, and other systems to support reporting and analytics Design, develop, and support automated reports and dashboards using SSRS, Tableau, and other reporting tools Support the development and enhancements of data repositories, data marts, and analytics cubes Support ad-hoc reporting and data extract requests Design and/or develop database objects (databases, tables, stored procedures, SSIS Packages) to support the collection, tracking and reporting of business data Provide consultative support by answering questions about the available data and the data that is possible to capture from the third-party systems Assist with best practices during implementation and integration of the various reporting tools Provide input to project planning, status and review meetings. Perform unit and integration testing, and participate in reporting validation and QA efforts as they pertain to reporting and data analytics Provide support for miscellaneous data projects and initiatives Participate in strategic planning around future development and integration of data from various operational sources to support the reporting needs of the business Experience and Education Requirements Bachelor's degree (preferred emphasis in computer science or MIS) Minimum 5 years of experience in IT and business intelligence Minimum 2 years of experience creating advanced reports using Microsoft SSRS, Tableau, and Excel Minimum 3 years of experience with SQL Server 2012 or higher Expert level experience designing/developing data integrations using various data sources Experience working with Business Intelligence solutions:
operational and analytical, strong knowledge of relational and multi-dimensional database architectures Experience writing complex SQL queries and strong knowledge of SQL Experience developing complex Tableau applications with powerful visualization Preferred Requirements Experience with Life Insurance and Indexed Annuity data Experience with cloud technologies such as Azure or AWS as it pertains to data and analytics Experience with Big Data, and Master Data Management Experience with R or Python Experience integrating data through Web Services/API securely from external systems with in-house data Skills and Abilities Knowledge of proper database normalization, indexing, transaction protection and locking Strong technical documentation skills Excellent troubleshooting and problem resolution skills Excellent teamwork and relationship building skills Strong time management and organizational skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Knowledge of data integrity protocols and security requirements and techniques Strong knowledge of software development life cycle methodologies Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment with minimal supervision. Salary Range:
$100K -- $150K
Minimum Qualification
Software Development, Business Intelligence & AnalyticsEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
