27 Annually This position approaches journey-level in the professional engineering series.
Under direct supervision, performs routine to moderate professional engineering work that requires the application of fundamental engineering principles and previous experience.
Assignments are within the design and procedural framework as established by higher-level engineers and are moderately difficult in scope.
Works with increasing independence as experience is acquired.

Work is performed under general supervision and a high degree of independence.
Assignments are increasingly difficult, and complex requiring the application of professional engineering knowledge and skills to problems and specialized areas and is distinguished from the Civil Engineer by the latter's attainment of registration as a Professional Engineer by the State of California, as well as the complexity and number of engineering assignments.
This professional engineer classification series is flexibly staffed, and positions may be filled at any level depending on the needs of the City and the qualifications of the incumbent.

The Carpinteria City Council is composed of five Carpinteria citizens elected by district for four year overlapping terms, The Mayor and Vice-Mayor are selected by the Council from among the membership and customarily serve two-year terms.

Experience:
Assistant Engineer:
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field.
Two years of progressive, professional engineering experience in civil engineering.
An Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certificate as issued by the State of California, another state, or territory of the United States may be substituted for the degree requirement.
Associate Engineer:
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field.
Three years of progressive, professional engineering experience in civil engineering.
Must possess an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certificate as issued by the State of California, another state, or territory of the United States at the time of appointment.
License/Certificate:
All licenses and certificates must be maintained as a condition of employment.
A valid appropriate California driver's license may be required.
Maintain a satisfactory driving record.
